Hardcore on the Big Screen

If you were around for the first wave of hardcore and punk in America, you probably wouldn't expect that Sony would package a documentary of the anarchistic movement 25 years later, complete with commentary from the movement's aging forefathers (including a graying, 45 year-old Henry Rollins).

Welcome to 2006, and the full-length documentary 'American Hardcore.' One would think that commercially releasing footage from legendary shows and interview tidbits from pioneers like Keith Morris, Ian MacKaye and H.R. goes against what the scene preached about for all those years. The bottom line is that the trailer looks fantastic, teasing pieces of chaotic Minor Threat and Circle Jerks shows, and seems to capture the anger and rebellion that these bands introduced to music. This genre is often misrepresented in the mainstream and this film is the perfect opportunity to finally get it right!

The film opens in NYC and L.A. on September 22, so we will have to wait until then to see if it really delivers the goods.
