Incoming: Van She

Van She, four newbies from Down Under, deliver an impressive fusion of new-wave, post-punk and filter-house, but not in the God-awful She Wants Revenge way. It's sort of like the Human League circa 1985 peered into a crystal ball and heard Daft Punk's 'Discovery.' Word is that these dudes were signed by Modular promptly after their first-ever gig. this band has been about sydney for about a year and pretty much sum up the music scene here, so lets get this clear - these guys are posers. They're the Presets through a high-end talent agency and there's no doubt that their fashion-before-art doctrine can and has won as many haters as it has chums. But if you get their EP then the first track, Sex City is probably leagues better than the defiantly homogenous new-wave ode to hot white love, kelly. Those bowing synth strides that get tired in the first chorus and the tense sexed-up vocals, they never let the song go anywhere enjoyable. But Sex City is worth the EP, and yes its all white.

Hey, SWR isn't God-awful. Jeez. Pretentious, maybe, but not God-awful. Ahem, anyway, Van She are old news to me. I think they're okay.
