Amy Winehouse is a household name in the U.K., and if there is any justice in this world, she will be in the States in 2007. 'Back to Black,' her second album, fuses nu-jazz, hip-hop and vintage soul sounds. It was co-produced by Mark Ronson, and features not only a guest spot from Ghostface, but also a remix by Hot Chip.
Think of Amy as a grown-up Lily Allen with a penchant for tattoos, who openly refuses to go to rehab. 'You Know I'm No Good' is the best song I have heard in a long time.

What has happened to Amy? Why is she killing herself. I looked at news footage of her attending a police station in London yesterday and when I compare her appearance now to that in her photo above (Dec 2006) the deterioration is marked and shocking. Please someone close to her step in and save her from herself.

Ok besides the whole SEXY thing (which alot of Americans think that if your sexy it equals GREAT SINGING TALENT) this girl has a def old skool feel. she's unbelievable; not only with range to sing great jazz melody, but she's got this timing and funk to really spit it out in her own style - just super great! i've collected much acid jazz since the late 80's, and nothing much new for the last 5 years, now this! it's so fresh and original in style, i'm kind of in a haze with it . . . and can't listen to much else lately.

her voice is incredible! its strong but does not over power her songs. her lyrics get to the point and are mercyless. this is something Simon would most likely dissagree with for the simple reason that he wishes he could have her voice!! rock on Amy.

SO WELL STATED!!!! DITTO. ....Amy Winehouse is mesmerizing..... Her rusty sound, special funk and kinda hip-hop timing uniquely accompany her mercyless, in-your-face lyrics. In her own layed-back, near sloppy (a good sloppy) style, Amy has carved a new knich in jazz.
The more I listen to Amy the more I want to hear.
...possibily an "AMY HAZE"!!!! I like this woman!! What a gift!!!

Amy .. it's great to hear someone like you .. earthy, good voice, good rythem .. really sexy, not like the non-musical, multi-repetitive music of most stuff today.
