Starting it off back in '06, where i left off was at Cinespace when Complex Magazine, Wire Image and DKNY came in to bring a new band, UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF GIANTS... they headlined with LE REV supporting while Them Jeans, DJ AM and myself rocked the 1s and 2s in the front room.

... funny story - the first time i remember meeting him was at cinespace and i was trying to get a drink from the bar and he wouldn't let me stick my neck in to get a drink. i thought he was trying to be a dick so i just budged myself right between him and his friend. tension started building and some harsh words started coming out but then we both took a long look at each other and realized that we've known each other for like 10 years from when i did shows in my living room in santa barbara in my lil ass apt.. we called it the pickle patch and we had over 450 bands, yes!! 450 bands play in that tiny lil spot from the rapture to mens recovery project to discount to even at the drive in. so we bro'ed down if you will and shot a few of em back and hugged it out. later we found each other at the airport both heading to NYC - UTIOG was going out to perform somewhere, i was going out to dj. we bonded again and i promised i would do a weird science remix for one of his singles which happened to be "mama's room". blake miller and i knocked that one out and island/def jam threw that on their official single. there's my aaron bruno story. great band great guy so so story. oh yeah You can download the UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF GIANTS remix that Blake and I (Weird Science) did from myspace.com/steveaoki.
dj am killed it one more time knocking around songs from the 80's and songs that aren't even out yet together. yeahh buddy. banana split sundaes at lax - me and am... come get wasted from the free keg on the dance floor and our anti bottle service policy and our anti over cologned shirt policy... yeahhh.
lindsay buddyyyy ..... la to miami. she travels as much as me. welll almost.

mr. danny masterson aka dj mom jeans firming it up for our weekly arm wrestling competition that we just got started.
so moving on to december 21st which seems like a blur at this point. i flew out to chicago to dj at debonair social club, brand new club opened by claudia gassel of crobar.. she started a new thursday night party that the dark wave disco djs resident at and i've been hitting it up every time i've been in chicago. love claudia love dark wave disco dudes and fucking LOVE CHICAGO! all the photos below are from clayton hauck. everyoneisfamous.com
i came back to LA, worked on some loops with ableton live and did a guest dj set at paparazzi, keith and danny le disko's xmas party. xmas roll around and i got to see my moms who makes the best japanese food ever!! and had some food with my sibliings who some i haven't seen in months. came back up to la to do it up for our MosteXtremeCompetition dj marathon. MXC happens to be my favorite show on television by the way!! and on Youtube. when im bored i can watch those back to back til i pass out. you know that those were actually filmed in the 80's? amazing! anyways this time we had 9 dj groups spinning in both rooms at our DIM MAK BASH. DJ AM, Them Jeans, Blake Miller, Paparazzi, Desert Eagles and Aaron Brother Reade, Acid Girls, Richard Oh from BigSTereo.Net Dan O, and myself with a lil cameo from my sis. It was raging an hour after we opened doors. Glad we could do it up even the day after Xmas..

blake miller found some time out of the studio where he hasnt left in days and days.. but the man is finishing up the sophomore follow up to moving unit's first album. this one is going to be on dim mak/metropolis.. we are really excited about this record coming out! dim mak for 2007 is looking amazing and well be posting up our line up for the rest of the year soon.
me and my lil sis knocked around some songs...
am got on the mic and announced our late night poker game blinds
except that one person over there... he wasnt too excited about it.
it didnt matter... once AM dropped James Brown is Still Alive people were going nutssss
somehow we all got back to the Dim Mak offices and tried on some new dino hoodies for our family portrait to send to pops... lil Echo on the left and lil Dev on the right.
we (dim mak/cobrasnake) are moving offices very shortly cuz our spot is being demolished to build better buildings for the beautification of hollywood. there actually is a department called the beautification of hollywood and they regulate the gnarly looking places and do some shit to em. well whatever long complicated reasons that our spot is being bulldozed at some point we've been partying it up and making the most of it. today mark got in some new tees so to celebrate he did a photo shoot.
i flew out to NYC on thursday dec 28th to go do at Hiro Ballroom for a party called CHeeky Bastard. i was psyched cuz i got to see my buddy russell from bloc party dj a bit

yeahhh my new favorite uk band - klaxons!!! where are the glow sticks!!! im so down iwth the glowsticks!! i stuck around in st. petersburg,, oops i stuck around to dj at stereo on my friday residency.. its a hip hop set by the way over there. then i flew out to miami to end my 2006 craziness drunk and wasted and working... thats actually my favorite combinations --- working on the holidays getting wasted!!
the new years eve party i djed at was at the Setai Hotel in the back area with the two pools if you know it. it was hosted by hilary duff and her sister hailie, ben mackenzie from the oc, and jessica alba.. it felt like there was over 2500 people there and everyeone was getting wasted for all good reasons.... i had a lil stage that i djed on that was over packed with my buddies but honestly i didnt get drunk til after the countdown... and i had the best fatman scoop countdown that AM got me up to speed on.
cobrasnake coiuldnt roll with me but wire image was there..
this photo courtesy of lindsay gigler... yes i had to drink straight out of the bottle cuz all those little cups werent workin... It was a good way to end 2006. It's been a very busy year for me, for Dim Mak, and recently for Dim Mak Collection. I'm fucking ready for 2007!!! Let's make it better and more fun and exciting than the last with better albums, better songs, better attitudes, better clothes, better everything!
