Ani DiFranco Gives Birth to Righteous Baby

Righteous babe Ani DiFranco gave birth to a 7 pound, 8 oz. girl, Petah Lucia, at her Buffalo home last Saturday. This is the first child for the prolific rocker with engineer Mike Napolitano, a man whom she credits in part to her newfound happiness.

"This is a whole new kind of relationship for me," DiFranco says. "I mean, on the surface it seems a lot like old relationships, like, 'Oh, Ani and her sound guy' [laughs]. But I find this relationship to be really nutritious. All the time that we spend together is good."

DiFranco released her latest album, 'Reprieve,' last summer.

I also saw her, in November in Burlington, VT. Radiant in her pregnancy, I hope we get to see radiant pics of the new mom!

I just saw Ani in october at the orpheum in madison wisconsin. She made a beautiful pregnant lady, but I'm sure she'll make an even more beautiful mom.

so anxious to see pictures.

Wow- it's going to be interesting to see how Ani's new experiences as a mom are going to pervade her future albums. Knowing her, they'll still be lyrical, insightful, and full of conviction as they ever were.
