The DFA Does Diddy

James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy (aka the DFA) crank out genre-defining transformations of songs from the likes of the Chemical Brothers, Metro Area, Hot Chip and a slew of other credible artists. The duo can do it on the mainstream tip as well, proving it with a remix of Justin Timberlake's 'My Love' that oozes style. Recently, the pair took on Diddy's 'Tell Me' and gave it an old-school house flavor. Somehow DFA manages to make me care about songs I might otherwise shun.

UPDATE: It's not a DFA remix, but a different "DFA" remix. Producers Darryl James and Fred McFarlane, to be exact. We were serviced by Bad Boy Entertainment with a CD of 'Tell Me' remixes, two of them called out as 'DFA Remix.' (One with Diddy, one without.) With the real DFA doing mixes for the like of Justin Timberlake, a mix for Diddy didn't make us suspicious. Obviously, we were wrong. Thanks to Tim Goldsworthy for clearing up the confusion. And thanks to Pitchfork for the (shock!) condescending retraction and dis of our blog.
