'Be My Wife,' David Bowie
From 1977's 'Low'
Sure, the androgynous spaceman adventures are cool, but it's even more intriguing when the when weirdos act normal (see also Bowie's yuletide carol with Bing Crosby). This little ditty, from the wonderfully wacked-out 'Low' album, finds our interplanetary hero yearning for domestic bliss over Brian Eno's chilly 25th-century production . . . and a nifty ragtime piano. Delivered by a mere mortal, 'Please be mine/Share my life/Stay with me/Be my wife' would be a trite refrain, but when belted out by an alienated alien, it's intergalactic magic.
Hear the song after the jump.

I wonder if he proposed to Iman by singing it;
she obviously accepted. Congratulations David and Iman on your fifteenth wedding aniversary!
God, i'd be his wife any day! Awesome song, and 'Low' is one of my favourite Bowie albums.

Thanks, I thought I was the only one left :-)
Low is a great album, as are the other two that followed that are part of the Berlin Trilogy. It was great to see more experimental innovative instrumental work from Bowie. The album sees like quite the smorgasborg of ambient jazz, post-punk, some electro pop and even classical music. It's quite interesting to see that he was dabbling in New Wave, probably 5 years or so before it became a big phenomenon. Not surprising considering he went to Berlin to clean himself up and get back on track. I think this album is a great showcase of that! Be My Wife is a great direct,in your face song. For a moment it seems like it doesn't belong, but in actually it molds just right with the rest of the album. Anyways, after all that, just wanted to say good choice :)
