Jared Leto Makes Amends With Blogs

These days, when you're a platinum rock star, say, like, 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto, it's hard for your words not to be scrutinized. Leto learned that lesson with a comment he made about blogs, but he told Spinner he's not anti-blog. "I was being flippant about something and I think it got taken slightly out of context. I was expressing my dislike and discomfort for the tabloid culture out there that kind of subsists on lies and negativity," he says. "I certainly am a huge fan of blogs, message boards, anything that causes or creates connectivity between people and from person to person."

In fact, he says his band wouldn't be where they are today without the communal aspect of the Internet. "We've had a message board since 1999 or 2000, and it's been a tremendous tool for us and for our fans to get to know each other and to build something very important to 30 Seconds to Mars, which is the sense and identity of a community and a family."

And if anybody was upset over his comments? "If I hurt anyone by saying that, by them thinking I dislike blogs in any way, it's not the case," he says. "I would never hurt anyone's feelings or hard work that they feel a part of."
