U.K. rapper Lady Sovereign let loose the rapier-sharp wordplay that garnered her that Def Jam contract when she called fellow countrywoman Corinne Bailey Rae "Corinne 'Boring' Rae" in a face-to-face meeting. In an interview that ran in the London tabloid The Daily Mirror, the pocket-size hip-hopper said she confronted the Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter backstage at the taping of a British TV show. "I told her she was boring and that she should be called Corinne 'Boring' Rae," Sov crowed.
Lady Sovereign's droll assessment comes days after Brit vocalist Lily Allen used the selfsame b-word to describe Bailey Rae. But before you get the idea that sisterhood is powerful, later in the interview Sov also cut Allen to the quick, spitting out, "Just because her dad [actor Keith Allen] is famous, she doesn't have to work as hard as me."
Ladies, it's all fun and games until someone pops a crumpet in someone else's arse.
