They Will Rock You: Cortney Tidwell (No. 7)
- Posted on Mar 16th 2007 12:06AM by Spinner
The Deal: Tidwell, a Nashville native, possesses all the folk-country trappings that are her birthright. But not being the complacent sort, she folds layers of moody electronica into her homegrown influences. This blend has garnered Tidwell scads of acclaim in the U.K., which has led to folks back home taking notice.
Fun Fact: Tidwell's mother was a successful country singer in the '70s, and her dad and grandfather ran Nashville label Chart Records.
Sounds Like: If Bjork and Mazzy Star gathered dusty tunes on a Southern road trip

March 17 2007 at 1:14 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAbsolutely stunk...I was wondering when the singing would begin, and then...IT DID! Give me a break, these are the top 10 new artists to watch. This is making American Idol look alot better!
March 17 2007 at 1:09 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyA 51 second intro?? That would be more than enough time for me to switch to another channel or song. Sorry. Sounds like church music.
March 17 2007 at 1:08 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI feel asleep befores she sang her first note prefer Mazzy STAR !
March 17 2007 at 1:01 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyLove her voice. Hate the song. She sounds very similiar to Harriet Wheeler from The Sundays. I'd check out her other songs.
March 17 2007 at 12:06 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYeah - I agree with most of the comments here, too slow & a bit depressing - her voice sounds good but she needs more / happier upbeat songs.
