The Deal: The Montreal trio exhibits the aggression of D.C. hardcore meshed with the pop sensibilities of '90s grrrl-grunge -- that is, when they're not sounding like a chord-crazy art-damaged combo. With strikingly lovely female vocals riding opened-tuned guitars, they remind you why the "rock" half of the art-rock equation matters so much.

Nice crunchy guitars. Remind me of Gang Of Four (the guitars) for some reason. All in all, not too bad, but doesn't stand out too much from sea of eighth-note rock bands out there. Not sure how else to describe that, but I'm referring to the last of rhythmic variation in the music of so many bands today. The girlish vocals are the only thing different here.

Yep! Totally dig Land of talk. From a production standpoint, I love it all ... except the doubling on the lead vocal. That takes away from the "realness" and rawness of this otherwise great live band. Hey Guitar, Bass, Drums and a singer with an attitude ... that is the description of rock music!
