I, too, despise this idiotic lyric. I don't care in what context it was intended, it sounds about as stupid as it gets. A rock is an inanimate object, and therefore, cannot charge from anything. Throw in the fact that it's sung in a voice reminiscent of a rusty hinge, and it further drives me up the wall. I was never a fan of that dreary Old Time Rock And Roll fluff either, but throw in the horrific image of that idiot, Tom Cruise, dancing around in his underwear with a corn broom, combined with Ol' Raspy Voice, and it's the thing nightmares are made of. And enough of this, "Seger is above reproach" mentality. People are free to dislike whatever they choose - if his voice grates on us like sandpaper, we have that right to express it.

to the lyrics critics- you have some good points there, until you got to Mcartney & Seger. I was just wondering though...how do I get a job criticizing famous people? sounds pathetic but maybe the money is good...

This song is O K but not great Iknow people in MI think Segar is agod like People in N J think of springsteen, or people in IN like Mellancamp. Hes got some rockers but this isnt one of them His worst song is Katmandu, Man that s0ong goes on, and on,and on and runs out of anything to say about 30 Secs into it, that song SUCKS.

Van Watson, what Bob Seger has done as an individual has nothing to do with whether he writes bad lyrics or not. Plenty of good stars with philanthropic intentions write bad songs, make bad movies, etc. and calling them out on it is NOT showing disrespect, but being a critic. Seger made some great music very early on, like in the late 60s, but everything from "Smokin' OP's" on was a big long slide downhill. And Michigan has come out with a lot of such mediocre performers. Good thing Iggy Pop makes up for them.

This song should not be on this list, songs today either bitch about everything, talk about popping caps in peoples' asses, or screaming on stage. At least he knew how to sing and play guitar, most bands today just strum wildy and scream about demons coming out of their ass, that doesn't take skill...Its like listening to an old married couple argue...
