I don't see why Spinner put this lyric on the list...if they got 4000+ comments there had have been at least 1000 that were better suited for an awful lyrics list.

Even when I was a white 20-something ignoramus Eric Clapton singing these lyrics made no sense to me. It was only on hearing Bob Marley that I realized it was an ingenious song about racism and corruption.

Lisa and her followers need to go back under whatever rock they came from......... Bob Marley was an icon and still remain one into infinity.......you on the other hand, well let's leave it like that.............

Marley was a genius and if you don't like the lyrics or better yet don't understand them I suggest no need to comment on them.

It's pathetic the way some of you 20-somethings worship your idols so much that no one can criticize their lyrics. Some of you are just insecure reactionaries, but, regarding I Shot the Sherriff, there is nothing wrong with the lyrics if you listen to the whole song. Marley is referring to a situation where he had to defend himself against a corrupt sheriff and, in the process, ends up killing the guy. Although he didn't kill the deputy, yet through a series of events, unexplained in the song, it appears that someone killed the deputy and tries to pin both murders on Marley.

well if you listen to the whole song you might get it, that he shot the sheriff in self defense.

what about Mister Mister's "Broken Wings" where he soulfully sings with a straight face “You’re half of the flesh, and blood makes me whole,”. or in Limp Bizkit's "Nookie", "I did it all for the Nookie, come on, the Nookie, come on, the Nookie, so you can take that cookie, and stick it up your ass.." need I say any more?

HEY IDIOTS ,Bob was singing about Injustice in Jamaica and around the world. The sheriff shot his own deputy and tried to frame the Hero of this song and he knows that if he gets caught he will get convicted of a crime he didnt commit,Look up Marleys backstory for context, He was shot by the Jamaican Government went he wouldnt work with the ruling regime(lend his celebrity to the Regimes agenda).
regnr8d1at 12-30-2008
You see the thing is he shot the sheriff the bullet bounced off his badge and hit the deputy.
So "I shot the sheriff But I didn't shoot no deputy" is indeed a true statement.
There you go a little CSI for ya.

Good God...it is just common sense not to hate on Bob. In fact, being negative about Bob Marley is pretty ironic. But such things will piss off a lot of...er...people belonging to a certain interest group. And there's a lot of us. Lisa...you're the worst kind of person.
