Video Premiere: Blonde Redhead, '23'

New York indie-rock innovators Blonde Redhead unveil the Melodie McDaniel-directed video for the title track to their forthcoming album '23.' Singer Kazu Makino told Spinner, "23 is sort of my magic number." Does the video deliver the magic?

the video gels well even if the concept gets a bit old by the end.

Wow,
The video is striking, the word fluid comes to mind. On the other hand the song proves to be a knockout! Blonde Redhead has always eluded me a little bit and I lose track of what they are doing but I am definitely getting this record.

Although I find the production to be a bit to 'major label' for the taste of Blonde Redhead, I'm certainly a fan and will not hesitate to pick up this album on Tuesday.

Much prefer the aesthetic of the last album however...

I haven't listened to the record yet, but this song seems to be missing the complexity and texture of past Blonde Redhead releases. The melody is so straightforward and repetitive and failed to evoke an emotional response in me...
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about their first album in 3 years, but this song didn't overly impress me.

i'd guess that '23' is a boards of canada inspiration (aquarius). the video and music is directly inspired by my bloody valentine. like the way the guy strums the jaguar.

Sorry but BR have completely turned into Lush on this one. There is no point. Just get Gala or better yet revisist MBV/Loveless, Slowdive or Cocteaus...
