Cinematics Bring Jeff Buckley's Mom to Tears

With their recent live performance of Jeff Buckley's 'Grace,' Scottish rockers the Cinematics made the biggest fan of the late rocker cry: his mom.

"I fell completely silent and just stared for a while," frontman Scott Rinning tells Spinner of meeting Mary Guilbert at their Austin show. "I tried to say something about the profound impact her son's music had had on my life, but I just mumbled something fairly incoherent. I can't really remember what she said. Someone told me she said something about [our cover] being one of the most beautiful interpretations of her son's music she'd heard."

"She had a teary eye," he continues, "and -- I'm not proud, it's not very rock 'n' roll -- but my eyes were also over-powered by this weird human activity."

We're fortunate to have this emotional performance by the buzz rockers captured on video.
