Forget pimps -- it's hard out here for an optimist. With the abundance of reporting on fires, homicides, and Imus and Kramer tirades, it takes real effort not to flip folks the bird sometimes. And just when I couldn't sacrifice another brain cell to the formulas of pop music, in came Robin Thicke's 'Can U Believe.'

For almost a year, I've danced daily to its lush melodies and pure instrumentation as if we're the only couple on the floor. It's a misconception that you need a perfect multi-octave range to capture an audience. His voice reels me in by doing the opposite -- whispering to my subconscious and urging me to fight another day. If I'm gushing, it's because I truly am in love, adoration, elation and an utter state of euphoria with this song.

I dare you not to be moved: "When all that you've got is doubt / And no one can pull you out / Your heart is slowing down / Can you believe?" I'm ecstatic the song was named his next single, yet I'm almost disappointed that the world is now cutting in.
