Johnny Marr Wants You to Walk in His Shoes

If asked to make a list of rock's all-time greatest jocks, we find it difficult to go too far without mentioning the name of noted guitar muscle-man Johnny Marr -- which makes him an ideal endorser for a new line of athletic shoes.
The Morrissey maestro turned Modest Mouse majordomo has linked with the makers of PF Flyers to create a limited-edition line of kicks emblazoned with his signature, but not, unfortunately, a copy of Isaac Brock's secret martini recipe.
In keeping with the geek-centric attitude of the whole shebang, the shoe-mongers are taking the limited-edition aspect seriously, putting just 108 pairs of the shoes up for sale. Since Marr's share of the proceeds will go to benefit an autism charity, we hesitate to be too snarky about his involvement -- other than to suggest he not get wrapped up in the sporting life to the point where he challenges fellow sneaker salesman LL Cool J to an arm-wrestling joust.
