Right Said Fred Singer Runs for Mayor

While we've slipped into a sort of political apathy in recent years -- prompted less by the rise of Karl Rove than the death of Sonny Bono -- we found our campaigning gene nudged out of hibernation this week upon hearing that Richard Fairbrass has announced his candidacy for the mayoral election in London.

Big deal, you say? Well, if we mentioned that we were particularly psyched about Fairbrass's decision because it's been ages since we could unequivocally say that a candidate was too sexy for the office in question, we're guessing plenty of folks might join in our reverie.

Having apparently exhausted the political possibilities inherent in his longtime position as lead singer of Right Said Fred, Richard has decided to take on the establishment from the inside, with a platform that includes pillorying SUV drivers, restoring smoking as an inalienable right and -- we can only presume -- removing any and all taxes on head-waxing products.
