Willie Nelson Gets Lucky in Court
- Posted on Apr 25th 2007 11:00AM by Beville Darden

Willie Nelson's high times in Louisiana didn't result in jail time, as a judge ruled yesterday instead to fine the country icon and put him on probation for a drug bust last fall. Nelson and his tour manager, David Anderson, along with Nelson's sister Bobbie and two drivers were all issued citations in St. Martinville, La. after state troopers found marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms on Nelson's tour bus.
Nelson and Anderson pleaded guilty to the misdemeaner counts in a St. Martinville courtroom yesterday. The State District judge fined them each $1,024 and put them on probation for six months. Charges against Nelson's sister and the two drivers were dismissed.
Nelson emerged from the courtroom to find about 25 fans waiting for him with pens in hand. He happily signed autographs and posed for pictures before hitting the road. He will appear at the Coachella music festival in Indio, Calif. this weekend.

But the "law" needs to be changed.....people should be allowed to put whatever substances into their bodies that they choose...so long as it has no negative effects on the rest of society. Just make them buy it through pharmacies...show ID (being 18+) and sign a waiver to the effect of "I know this may kill me but I don't hold anyone else accountable, or some words to that meaning...)
This would put the drug lords out of business...and the violence that goes with them....it would decrease our prison populatons and free up the Courts for violent people to be prosecuted....
People should have the "Rights" to self-medicate if they don't like/or are not getting the treatments they want from their physicians, etc.. This system would also allow for "Death w/Dignity" if they have an incurable disease, i.e., cancer/whatever.
Viet vet, to old & wore out to do it much anymore but always thought it would be the red, white & blue, red blooded American way being the fairest, up until I loused up on it, no matter how minor or ignorant, my coaster was rollin. Must add, my coaster has performed faultlessly, no one on earth has been or ever will be put out or infringed upon because of me spendin' every waking minute of my life workin' hard, even sweatin' red, white & blue, lookin out for our grand ladies, Miss America, Lady Liberty & Mama Nature & helpin' those with long rows to hoe. And when I've worked till my hands bled red, white & blue & gone till another step seems impossible & to take three hits every four or five days & feel like a one man Division ready to protect our girls against those who don't bleed red, white & blue. Reckon she'll fly?

(*Bob Marley would reign supreme, however if he were still among the living)

Its nice to hear there are judges that know how to make the punishment fit the crime.
Willy was not hurting anyone and didn't deserve to get busted for his stash.
I have a friend whose most prized "OMG I met a musician" story is when she smoked a joint with Willie on his tour bus.
