After playing semi-pro soccer, Rod the Mod abandoned his athletic dreams to work with the dead. He dug graves at London's Highgate Graveyard but laid down his shovel after just a few weeks.

Thank you Rod for visiting and singing at the New Orleans Jazz Fest this year...I am a New Orleans native but have never attended the Jazz Fest, but went this year just to see you.. I'm glad you didn't stay with grave digging and chose singing over soccer as your profession..You keep us all Forever Young.

I too worked in a burial ground in Attleboro Ma. I had a lot of people under me as did Rod and everybody was dying to get in. I do not know if he had to do it by hand as we did but if he did its a tough job that gets very little respect. No rock star treatment in the grave. It just explains Rods connection in his music to the huddled masses. Stay forever young. Everybody.
