Interpol's New Song Is Bicoastal
- Posted on May 1st 2007 3:00PM by Mike Spinella
If you thought Interpol's major-label debut would be a radical departure from their past two efforts, think again. First single 'The Heinrich Maneuver' finds the band sticking to its tried-and-true formula. In the song's first lines, frontman Paul Banks alludes to a bicoastal breakup, asking his former paramour, "How are things on the West Coast?"'Our Love to Admire,' the band's third album, is due on July 10. Keep reading to listen to the official, non-radio-ripped album version.

depressing...interpol was like the coolest band ever... now this song sounds like emo shit. heard it over and over again. swear, tried to like it. but its a cheap, unelegant, stupid song. too sad...seems like we've lost them.

BUT. The more you listen to it, the more you will like it. And it ends like a good friend of mine said: How we could lived without this song! Great tune.
Honestly some of the worst lyrics in a song. Interpol has gone from a really promising band to a hackneyed version of the Smiths and other 80's bands. The music doesn't stretch the mind, it doesn't say anything, it doesn't challenge the listener, and it seems like they rarely try anymore. They may be nice guys, but I'm no longer willing to give them my money for being "nice." Crap.

i should probably just get used to the idea that "turn on the bright lights" is never coming back.
Fantastic!!! This is their usual amazing work!
May 31 2007 at 7:02 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt is a wonderful and amazing song. Interpol is my favourite band I really hope one day they could come to Peru but I Know it is practically impossible, some day I will see them perform. Definitively I will buy the album.

-someone said "interpol is not joy division reincarnated" that is true. interpol is their own band. i dont kno what it is with the consistent comparison between interpol and joy division. they sound nothing alike. besides that, jd isnt the only influence to their sound. interpol is a combination of its four members' contributions, making concrete influences to difficult to decifer.
-why doesnt everyone just stop judging a song next to another song? its called "the heinrich maneuever" bcuz its "the heinrich maneuever" not bcuz its "slow hands, part II" or "obstacle 3." i cant believe ppl can really be that shallow as to think that this song "sucks" or is "cheesy" bcuz paul/s lyrics are so different from any other bands' lyrics. paul can say something cheesy or lame but make it sound so beautiful and transcendent. name me a few bands that can do that.
