This is for sure a block everything else out song.
I drop everything and sit right in front of the radio until it's over. -Even after all this time-
I still remember every second of the video. Very powerful.

I absolutely agree that Hank Williams "I'm so lonesome I could cry" should be near the top and also George Jones' "He stopped loving her today" is another one that should be within the top 5. I don't know the singer, but another one would be "Alone again, naturally".
What about Ella Fitzgerald's "Willow weep for me"; Nat King Cole's "These foolish things remind me of you"..... I'll never smile again; practically all of Patsy Cline's songs; "Till then" and the list goes on and one. So much for your top 25!!!

Someone already mentioned Tim McGraw's "Don't Take The Girl", and I have to agree. That song always gets to me. Another one is Foreigner's "I Wanna Know What Love Is". The backup choir in that song really makes it, and touches a very deep spot in the soul.

i had a women dedicate this song to me, she bougth me the song she asked me to listen to it she cried and begged me to but i would not i was to cool that was in the ninties when it came out she loved me so much and i took her for granted i did marry her later and lots of things happened but i never quit got it untill now and now that love she had for me i lost, it is not as strong because of my egotistical ways and not seeing how much she cared i only wish i had understood then what i understand now maybe we would have a much stronger relationship

Dear Mr. Acuff, you should have all the old Grand Ole Opry stars you need for now. We know that the Grand Ole Opry is in Heaven every Sat. night. Mr. Acuff, would you please leave some of the other older singers here for a while before they join you for a Grand night of the Grand Ole Opry in Heaven.
We have just sent you Billy Walker, fit him in and let the show continue.

This song is so awesome!!!! And to the ,emta; deficient who wrote comment #9- check above, you idiot- they DO give Prince credit for it!!! That's what "Prince-penned" means!

Long Black Train is another. The Green, Green Grass of Home. Long Black Veil is another sad song. All of these are country songs, but that was what Country meant. Country music and the Grand Ole Opry has all but disappeared. The good old singers are gone, but as George Jones Says, "Whose going to Fill their shoes?"

How about Madonna's "Father"?
