Wow, I was listening to this very song as I was looking through this, good call! "Asleep" is definitely the most depressing Smiths song however it is achingly beautiful.

Wow, you guys picked the Smiths, and actually picked a song I didn't know! What, those 80 other "ultimate-mopers" weren't good enough fer yah, had to go digging for b-sides? Come on, I mean yeah it's way over-played, but what line expresses the frustration and hopelessness of life better than "How Soon Is Now?"'s "you say it's gotta happen now - well what exactly do you mean? - See I've already waited too long - and all my hope is gone"?

Takes me back... walking a couple of miles back and forth to middle school with my Walkman playing "The Queen is Dead" tape until it was worn through... thinking of how much I hated my home. I was so depressed that you would think this would send me over the edge, but in fact even to this day I give this album credit for saving my life. My all-time favorite band- such a pleasant surprise to see them on this list!

I love love love the smith's but "last nite i dreamt that somebody loved me" is a way sadder song by them. Listen to that title. That is ture music to kill yourself by.
