'The Ego Has Landed'
Robbie Williams, 1999
Rise: The former Take That popster is the U.K.'s all-time top-selling solo artist and has sold more than 53 million albums worldwide.
Fall: Despite a huge push from Capitol Records to break into the American market, 'The Ego' never got higher than No. 63 on the U.S. pop charts. Take that!
Stats: 'I've Been Expecting You' (1998), 5 million (worldwide); 'Ego,' 560,000 (U.S.)

Honestly, I really liked "The Ego Has Landed." I bought it for "Millennium," of course, but I enjoyed almost every other track on the album as well, especially the powerful ballad "Angels," which was dismally covered by Jessica Simpson a few years later. "Ego" remains one of my favorite CD's to listen to.

Is it me or does Robbie Williams' photo on the album cover look like that dude from the Bazooka Joe comics? LOL!
Actually, Capitol took tracks from two of Robbie's albums that sold well world wide, so it was more of a compilation of "select" tracks from "Life Thru A Lens" and "I've Been Expecting You" which are only avaiable as imports in the US. Though "Ego" isn't bad, the two CDs that those songs came from were better. But then Capitol did album butchering jobs before to a little band called, oh what was their name? Oh, I got it.....THE BEATLES!

The reason why the album sold moderately in the United States is because of the fact that many Americans have a very serious disorder-TTSMD, which stands for Tasteless, Talentless and Stupid Music Disorder. In other words, they would rather listen to trash such as Justin Timberlake and Fergie, than listen to quality music by quality artists such as Amy Winehouse and of course, Robbie Williams.
The reason why Robbie William's album sold moderately is because of the fact that Americans don't warm up to British music like they did back in the 1960's when the Beatles. True the album peaked at #63, but with sales at 560,000 copies that means the album should have at least went Gold. And going Gold is not considered a flop by any means.
