glauten globen"
--'Rock of Ages,' Def Leppard (1983)
The British hard rockers were recording this song, slated for their album 'Pyromania,' with producer Mutt Lange. Feeling playful, and tired of counting off the usual "one, two, three, four," the producer instead spat out the German-sounding phrase "Gunter glieben glauchen globen," which the amused band members left on as the song's intro. When pressed, the group claims the phrase translates to "running through the forest silently" -- but it clearly means "we're pulling your leg."

Ha ha ha...how many of us really though Def Leppard was speaking German? I seriously though they were saying,"Unter, lieben, lauben, loben. ("Praise under dear foliage") Oh, well. Only took 25+ years to find out what they were saying!!

This is so funny, and I was embarrassed at what I thought it meant all these years! An ld friend of mine told me the band is Swedish and that the words are swedish for "One, two, three, four"! (Am I gullible, or what?! Don't answer that...)

I believe that it sounded like: "un tag leiben rock und rollen" which translates as "we all love rock and roll"

A rock'n'roll classic, one that will be remembered long after the Spice Girls are dead and forgotten. We love rock'n'roll. We love Def Leppard. Rock of Ages Forever!
