Lewis Black, David Cross Take Shots at Hippies, Rednecks
- Posted on Jun 15th 2007 1:30PM by Benjy Eisen

With the main stages still dark at Bonnaroo's kick-off on Thursday evening, the line to enter the Comedy Tent stretched across the field, thousands deep. After mingling with members of the National and Dr. Dog backstage at dinnertime, comedians from Lewis Black to David Cross played to the crowd, making fun of the festival's hippie roots by panning bands Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident and the Grateful Dead. The comics also made a lot of drug jokes, in honor of the audience's general state-of-mind. To kick off his headlining set, David Cross brought Aziz Ansari and Nick Kroll on stage for a parady of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour "aimed specifically at Bonnaroo" -- which takes place in rural Tennessee. The skit was titled: "You know you're a Dead-neck if ..." Don't laugh so hard that you bogart that joint, man.

fucking awesome! Lewis Black is wearing a Trailer Park Boys t-shirt in that pic there! I didn't know he was down with the boys or I woulda seen him instead of David Cross (who is starting to seem less funny and more like a rich hollywood dicktree.) They should bring back Mr. Show!
