Clay Aiken Gets the Broadway Treatment

While it would seem really difficult to replicate the magic that was captured in just about every frame of the celluloid classic 'From Justin to Kelly,' a brave duo has decided to try bringing similar thrills and chills to the stage in a new revue focused on the few, the proud, the obsessives who believe that Clay Aiken will save the world.'Idol: The Musical,' which is to open Off Broadway in New York City on July 5, is described as "a satirical look" at the phenomena known as Clay-Mania -- a thumbnail that strikes us as being almost as redundant as "a soporific rendition of 'You Light Up My Life.'"Be that as it may, the show's characters manage to sink to the bottom of the social totem pole in Steubenville, Ohio by dint of their unwavering faith in feats of Clay.
Sounds like a pretty thankless position to be in, if you ask us -- but not quite as thankless as, say, working as Ryan Seacrest's eyebrow waxer.

Are you TRYING to get yourself flamed?
Listen, most Claymates do not think Clay is going to save the world, but he makes our corner of it a better place.
He has also made it a better place for kids with disabilities who would otherwise not be able to participate in "normal" activities with kids without disabilities. Check out http://www.thebubelaikenfoundation.org/
Loose your bile on a deserving target.

I saw IDOL: the musical in the Syracuse Premiere and i was happily impressed. It was nothing like i had expected. The book was amzingly witty and the music was not only catchy but it also was beautiful. The story is also really good. I don't think the main meaning of this show is that "Clay is going to save the world", as the last comment hinted to. And i agree that clay "makes our corner of [the world] a better place" and that's what the musical says too. I honestly believe that if you see no other musicals you should see IDOL: the musical because it is really good!

Hey david...
cool article... i'm also a music freak and listens to all types of music... I went to see this show Holiday Wonders last year and thought it was very beautiful. I went to a matinee so there were a lot of children and seniors there, everyone loved it. It had slow dances, martial arts and Chinese legends all woven in. You can take a look at my blog for some pictures of last year’s show or go to this website: www.holidaywonders.net.
