4. All these celebs are going "green" huh. Jennifer Aniston says she is doing her part by taking only 3 minute showers, AND she brushes her teeth while showering. YEA RIGHT!!! I brush my teeth longer than 3 minutes for one, then how does she shave her legs and pits, and wash her hair and condition AND clean all the other nooks and crannys in 3 minutes?? HAHA think about this folks, whatta laugh.

6. All of these bands are doing great things, but it's odd nobody mentioned the easiest and one of the most effective actions of all. Choosing vegetarian does as much or more good than driving a hybrid automobile, and it's much easier and less costly. Choosing a bean burrito or taco instead of beef or chicken, pasta with marinara or olive oil sauce instead of meat sauce, hummus - pb&j - veggie - or tofurky sandwiches instead of turkey, chicken, ham, etc.
Veggie pizzas instead of meat pizzas.
Vegetarian baked beans instead of pork, veggie burgers instead of various meat burgers, the options are endless. What's on the end of our forks makes all the difference. The meat industry, large or small, conventional or organic, is one of the major contributors to the global warming crises, as well as the depletion of massive amounts of resources (water, grain, soil, rainforest, etc), as well as the source of unthinkable brutality toward and the murder of animal beings against their will. Not to mention putting us on the road to cancer and heart disease. Each of us that chooses vegetarian has an incredible positive impact. Those who discourage us from the veg lifestyle do not care about our well being, the well being of the earth or the voiceless animal victims.

8. Dave Matthews' tour bus dumping turds from a bridge over the Chicago River doesn't sound so eco-friendly to me, although landing on people in a sight-seeing boat below did keep them from making it to the river.

9. FYI this entire concert was done "green" meaning using solar power and other sustainable resources to the greatest extent possible. I am hardly a granola eating eco-fanatic, but you really have to have your head in a hole not to understand that humans are speeding up global warming. There are no legitimate scientists that dispute this. Please check your facts, not the OPEC website for your energy policy information.

Whether or not you think it's true- the risk of not taking action (end of our way of life on the planet) far outweighs taking action (some extra cash). Common sense alone should at least make you take this into consideration for the benefit of your future.

Climate change will be considered a joke in five years time, meteorologist Augie Auer told the annual meeting of Mid Canterbury Federated Farmers in Ashburton this week.

Man's contribution to the greenhouse gases was so small we couldn't change the climate if we tried, he maintained.

"We're all going to survive this. It's all going to be a joke in five years," he said.

A combination of misinterpreted and misguided science, media hype, and political spin had created the current hysteria and it was time to put a stop to it.

"It is time to attack the myth of global warming," he said.

Water vapour was responsible for 95 per cent of the greenhouse effect, an effect which was vital to keep the world warm, he explained.

"If we didn't have the greenhouse effect the planet would be at minus 18 deg C but because we do have the greenhouse effect it is plus 15 deg C, all the time."

The other greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen dioxide, and various others including CFCs, contributed only five per cent of the effect, carbon dioxide being by far the greatest contributor at 3.6 per cent.

However, carbon dioxide as a result of man's activities was only 3.2 per cent of that, hence only 0.12 per cent of the greenhouse gases in total. Human-related methane, nitrogen dioxide and CFCs etc made similarly minuscule contributions to the effect: 0.066, 0.047 and 0.046 per cent respectively.

"That ought to be the end of the argument, there and then," he said.

"We couldn't do it (change the climate) even if we wanted to because water vapour dominates."

Yet the Greens continued to use phrases such as "The planet is groaning under the weight of CO2" and Government policies were about to hit industries such as farming, he warned.

"The Greens are really going to go after you because you put out 49 per cent of the countries emissions. Does anybody ask 49 per cent of what? Does anybody know how small that number is?

"It's become a witch-hunt; a Salem witch-hunt," he said.

(ME- this is exactly what I and many of us have been saying for a long time, we are helpless to alter the earths climate, warmer or cooler, we are at the mercy of the age old forces that dominate it - the only thing increasing CO2 is doing, is helping life flurish! Do not confuse this with pollution, we still need to work on that but CO2 is the scapegoat now, the very thing that all life depends on.)

15. Remember kids, Do as the celebraties say, not as they do. Don't fly on private, fuel sucking jets, don't drive around in fuel sucking vehicles, don't vacation all over the world just because you can, don't buy overprice clothing, sunglasses etc. because you have more money than sense, don't adopt children from all over the world (or have out of wedlock) who you don't actually parent, and for goodness sake, don't buy 5 10,000+ square foot mansions that you visit on occasion. It all contributes to global warming, which YOU shouldn't do. But it is ok for the celebraties like Al Gore, Sean Penn, Madonna, Bono, and Angelina Jolie to do these things and preach to you. These people put the BRAT in celebraties!!!
