The rock 'n' roll veteran helped pioneer the now-popular practice of fueling tour buses with biodiesel. When promoting his 2004 film and album, both titled 'Greendale,' Young traveled with a caravan of 17 diesel vehicles, all of which ran on a mixture of soybean and vegetable oil. The biodiesel fuel emits about 75 percent less pollution than regular diesel fuel. Others who've followed in Young's Earth-friendly footsteps with their own biodiesel-fueled tours include KT Tunstall, the Indigo Girls and Keith Urban, just to name a few.

While I am very much in favor of reducing our dependence on oil,I am very much opposed to the use of biodiesel fuels. The fields used for rasising crops harvested for use as fuel could have instead raise food for people. As long as there are starving people around the world, it seems arrogant of us to think we should covert food to fuel for our cars.

We pay farmers to leave their fields fallow - so we're not depriving anyone of food. We don't ship food to other countries, we send dollars. If we can use these fallow fields to reduce our dependency on foreign oil as well as produce a fuel 75% cleaner than regular diesel, I say, go for it!

The U.S.A. will never be free of foreign oil. The Middle Eastern countries will have that power.
