A ninth Live Earth concert was added to the already lofty Saturday lineup -- this one at the National Mall in the U.S. Capitol -- with Garth Brooks and wife/fellow country superstar Trisha Yearwood set to headline. The Washington D.C. event joins the list of previously announced shows in London, New York, Australia, Japan, Germany, China, Brazil and South America.

The concert series, fueled by former Vice President Al Gore's campaign against global warming, kicks off in Sydney at 10PM ET on Friday, and continues through Saturday with more than 150 worldwide performances, including sets by Madonna, the Police, Kanye West, Jack Johnson, Crowded House, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Melissa Etheridge, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, AFI and Roger Waters, among others.

Spinner will cover the entire event with live updates and photos. For more information on Live Earth, including broadcast information, go to www.liveearth.org.

comment 34 -Jean- Along with over 800 other very caring volunteers I sorted garbage inside the arena and most of that garbage was either for recycling or compost. I saw this with my own eyes...Also, thousands and thousands of the concert goers took mass transportation to the stadium not SUV's or limos... Live Earth was a beautiful event.....

Will the publish how much money
Mr Gore got from the concerts.

Surely this 'Live Earth' stuff is
a joke. Mr. Gore has a book he
is pushing and getting the attention
he seems to need so badly.

More hype to sell more plastic CD's and print more pictures on valuable trees these mediahoggs are allegedly attempting to save? Jetting all over the planet at a moments notice to pander their music under the guise of saving us from ourselves.
I'm sick to death of these hypocrites telling me what "I" and the many others like me in the middle class must forfit so these mediamogul jetsetter assholes can keep telling me I must give up more!!! The fuel my truck burns in a year wouldn't fly their private jet for one trip from LA to Paris and I'm supposed to give up my job so they can keep flitting around the world in luxury? Sheryl say I'm to use only one sheet of TP, why, so we can keep printing Variety with all their pictures in it?
Global Warming my ASS! Another scheme to seperate us in the middle class from what we've worked so hard to acheive.
For every NON scientist/activist telling me the world will end tommorow if I don't give up my car and the equipment I need to live, there are five "actual" scientists telling me that is more likely all of this is just the earths normal cyclical climate changes. They say they aren't positive but the historical and physical data they've accumilated so far lends more credence to the normal cycle theory that the doom and gloom theory these energy wasting media darlings are beating us up with.
As far as I'm concerned I've bought my last CD/DVD and I'm ending all of my magazine and paper subscriptions....... that is my contribution to ending Global Warming!
How do you like that Sheryl, Sting, Al, and the rest of you depending on my buying your shit so you can tell me how bad I am for not doing as you say? Just my way of telling you to FO......

ALL CFL BULBS ALSO KNOWN AS COMPACT FLUORESCENT BULBS ARE MADE IN CHINA. NOT SOME....BUT ALL ARE MADE IN CHINA. IN COAL CONSUMING FACTORIES THAT SURELY ADD ALMOST AS MUCH "GARBAGE" TO OUR ATMOSPHERE AS AL GORE DOES.HE IS BETTER OFF TAKING HIS BIG FAT BEHIND HOME AND TAKING CARE OF HIS FAMILY AND LET THE UNIVERSE TAKE CARE OF EARTH. UNIVERSE HAS DONE A PRETTY GOOD JOB SO FAR SO PLEASE LEAVE IT ALONE AND LET IT DO ITS WORK. BY THE WAY...DID THEY SHOW THIS FARCE IN INDIA AND CHINA??

I wish you liberals would stop with the political crap. You think left wing bleeding hearts are the only ones who care about OUR planet? Have you read the stats on "your leader" Al Gore's home(s)? Now to those of you whom it applies, get in your gas sucking vehicles and go feel good about yourselves. And please, PLEASE - read the FACTS before pointing the finger at anyone else but yourselves.

I was just wondering what Al Gore's wife had to say about all of the bands that participated. I distinctly remember back in the 80's when she ranted and raved that rock n'roll was the devil's music, yet here we are 20 years later and her husband is lining up rock n'roll acts to supposedly support "global warming" that is something the earth has been through before. What a hypocrite!!! Just thankful he didn't win the last election - what a mess we would be in now.

I wonder if Al made sure all the garbage generated at these "earth friendly" concerts was recycled? Bet no one has pictures of that.....
