The Police Team With West, Mayer for Live Earth Finale
- Posted on Jul 7th 2007 11:39PM by Melissa Olund

Keith Urban and Alicia Keys seemed like an unlikely pairing, but the Police upped the ante, ushering Kanye West and John Mayer onstage to bring Live Earth to a close. After the Police noodled their way through 'Driven to Tears,' 'Roxanne,' and 'Can't Stand Losing You,' the all-star jam of 'Message in a Bottle' served to send out a global "S.O.S.," reiterating the theme of the day: Save Our Selves.
Former Vice President Al Gore, who Sting introduced as a "bass player," brought the 24-hour-long proceedings to a proper close, urging the worldwide audience to take the spirit of the day and put it to use for the good of the planet.

Global warming had it's day in the sun,the "warmies" are satisfied that they have saved the planet.
The issue will go away.
Kayne West is more concerned with his Ego than saving the planet. Can't endorse this concert as you needed Sat/cable to see it .And what exactly were the donations for ??

We have told man that he evolved from slime, that kids are a choice not a gift, and that old and disabled are inconvienent. This is a far bigger issue. We and many other countries are already reaping the fruits of this political thinking. We have old people who cannot afford medicine, and kids who cannot get health care. We will not be able to pay the baby boomer social security bill because we have aborted close to 40% of the generation that would have worked to support them. We probably aborted the persons who would have done the research to solve the "global Warming issue", we probably also aborted the researchers who would make stem cells work without destroying other embryoes, and we aborted the next generation of leaders, we are left with celebrities and politicians who are trying to dictate their own twisted agendas a cultural elite so out of touch with reality it is frightening. My family survived Nazi Germany, not Jews but Germans who tried to fight against Hitler. They say our political climate in the US is very similar to rigtht before Hitler rose to power. God help us all if we do not get a clue and go back to values of the Judeo-Christian, and nonradical Muslim faith, and realize that we have responsibility along with every "right", that the Church is failing to live out Christs message, and we need to get moving and truly love all and serve all while at the same time making it clear there are absolute right and wrong. We must get back to loving people, helping them move on and get out of the new age, feel good sprituality, political farce that goes on now. I pray for all, love all care about all not just the cause de jour pushed by the hot celebrity and political darlings of the day. God bless us if we turn our face back to God, pray, confess our failures and try to do better, not just expect God to bless us and go about our merry way of killing off anyone who doesn't think like us or costs us too much of our precious money and free time!!!!!!!

July 09 2007 at 1:32 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI want to buy some 'carbon offsets' from the company where Al Gore buys his. The company that sells "carbon offsets" is Generation Investment Management, and Al Gore is part owner of Generation Investment Management.
Good way to say money, Al, ya tightwad!
How many celebs hopped into their Hummers after the show...,.maybe the Hummers weren't there to pick them up, but I bet they were waiting around the corner out of sight of the media.

July 09 2007 at 12:24 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'll admit that I don't really like Kanye West but that doesn't matter. They did a good job regardless of how different they are. Rock is better, yea but rap doesn't suck. It was a great finale.
