--Dead Kennedys (1980)
Rebelling Against: Lockstep liberalism!
These quintessential protest punks kicked off their confrontational career by imagining a California that has been taken over by a hippie generation turned fascist. Like the Nazis, the state sentences its undesirables to death. The difference: the poison gas is organic.

Dead Kennedys are 1 of the most under-rated bands from the Punk Era [mid to late 70s]. Of course, their songs like "Too Drunk To F*ck" would never get any mainstream radio play, but it's 1 of those songs that'll kick-in your front door & grab you by the shirt-collar.

Almost every one of DK's songs was a protest song, especially "Chickens*it Conformist" or "Nazi Punks F*ck Off" which both take on their punk rock peers and fans...they didn't care who they offended, they were out to expose it for what it was...

DK - WOW - I love em - I cant really think of a protest disco song and I can't think of a great punk song that wasn't a protest song.

Man, you guys should have uploaded the faster (and better-recorded) version of this song, which I believe is available on their album Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death.

I just love the name of the band

Jim #1; You may like the name of the band, I find it offensive. Many of us in the 60s admired the Kennedys and their support of civil rights, and RFK turning against the Vietnam war.

Yes! DK and the Clash beat out those posers Green Day! Now we just need Bad Religion... American Jesus!

Hell yes. California uber alles. I believe that's a touch upon what the Nazis were calling themselves in the decades prior.

Yo Jeremy Ross, i actually believe it's a play on the Nazi anthem " Deutschland Uber Alles" if that's what you meant.

...the Kennedys. A family of the most morally corrupt politicians in American history. Jack, Ted and Bobbie make Clinton the rapist and pervert look like Mr. Roberts.

NOTICE: How the SPINNER STAFF calls the artists singing this song "PROTEST PUNKS" since it "REBELS AGAINST LIBERALISM", and the same staff notates the other artists, those rebelling against the "MORAL MAJORITY" and "AUTHORITY", as HEROES.
---------TYPICAL AOL LIBERAL PROPAGANDA--------

Dead Kennedy's? Write a protest song about the living Kennedy, who waterboarded a woman in his car in his home state. Who covered everything up. Write a song of his disgusting groping of women and his alcoholism while he thinks he is protecting the rights of terrorists and attacking our military. Write about him and Senator Dodd making a sandwich out of a waitress.

Another good choice. Beter than your other lists ......so far......
