Rebelling Against: The big boss man!
Written by the uncompromising David Allan Coe and sung by the country singer with the perfect name for the job, this pop crossover hit tapped a universal nerve at a time when the American economy was spiraling down the toilet. Disgruntled wage earners still call their local country stations to request the song when they're ready to quit.

Some on here I've never heard of. Of course some bosses maltreat their employees, either emotionally or through underpayment, and it is debilitating to be under that kind of lording. It can be a very dehumanizing experience to live in fear of another person, and so let them mistreat you.

December 12 2007 at 6:42 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyRadio stations usually play this every Friday afternoon around 5:00 p.m. for a chuckle. It is a protest against his wife leaving him after all he's done to support her. He'd worked hard all those years and now that she's gone he has no reason to work anymore. "My woman done left and took all the reasons I was working for"

December 12 2007 at 5:05 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHow do you call this not a protest? Or "pop-fluff"? "Corny"? Are you kidding me? The only reason it sounds corny to you is because you're probably a whiny teenager who doesn't even know what all these songs are protesting about. Pop fluff- pop fluff is not what this is. It's country. "I thought Carrie Underwood was country!" well she's not, she's POP FLUFF.

December 12 2007 at 3:52 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI guess whoever thought this song didn't belong here never busted his ass in a dirty smelly factory for crummy wages, and bosses who treated you like just another fixture in the building.
Thanks, Johnny P!!!
