The second is the uncanny way in which she meshes modern urban attitudes with classic blues, soul and girl-group sounds. Her second album, 'Back to Black,' was recently certified gold, no doubt in part to its lead single, the middle-finger lush anthem 'Rehab.'

I'm wondering how Meg White missed being on this list. She may not sing much, but without her drums, The White Stripes would never have gotten as popular as they are right now. And what about the lead singer of Paramore? I thought this was a list of women who ROCK, not just sing.

I agree with fountain: Amy Lee is by far, better than these women. Yes, some of them are good. But, just listen to Amy Lee's vocals! You aint heard nothin' till you heard Ms. Lee!

"Tears Dry On Their Own", for some reason, reminds me of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" from a musical standpoint although, clearly, the lyrics are unique. Amy Winehouse has an impressive voice, very soulful and sultry, and I like what she's done with "Tears Dry On Their Own." So, now I have another artist whose CD I want to try out. Ms. Winehouse has impressed me with this song, so now I want to hear some of her other works. Keep up the good work Ms. Winehouse.
