Courtney Love Gets Mused by Muse, John Lennon

Green Day aren't the only rockers giving John Lennon's 'Working Class Hero' some modern love. Enter a love of another kind: Courtney Love. The singer-songwriter lists the tune among her all-time favorites, and likens its simplistic yet profound construct to that of another late rocker -- husband Kurt Cobain.

"I'm so envious of 'Working Class Hero,'" she tells Spinner. "It's one of those songs that's so simple, and Kurt was like this -- where he could take three chords and turn them into that. It's just like lightning. I haven't written a 'Working Class Hero.'"

While Love has a laundry list of old faves -- the Kinks' 'Waterloo Sunset,' Leonard Cohen's 'Sisters of Mercy,' Echo and the Bunnymen's 'Killing Moon' and Bob Dylan's 'Tangled Up in Blue' -- there is one current song tickling her fancy.

"The only song that I wish I had written in the last few years was a Muse song -- 'Time is Running Out,'" she says. "I really like that song. I was like, 'Damn, I could've written that if I tried -- if the circumstances were right. That's not outside of my skill set.'"
