Courtney Love Gets Mused by Muse, John Lennon

Green Day aren't the only rockers giving John Lennon's 'Working Class Hero' some modern love. Enter a love of another kind: Courtney Love. The singer-songwriter lists the tune among her all-time favorites, and likens its simplistic yet profound construct to that of another late rocker -- husband Kurt Cobain.

"I'm so envious of 'Working Class Hero,'" she tells Spinner. "It's one of those songs that's so simple, and Kurt was like this -- where he could take three chords and turn them into that. It's just like lightning. I haven't written a 'Working Class Hero.'"

While Love has a laundry list of old faves -- the Kinks' 'Waterloo Sunset,' Leonard Cohen's 'Sisters of Mercy,' Echo and the Bunnymen's 'Killing Moon' and Bob Dylan's 'Tangled Up in Blue' -- there is one current song tickling her fancy.

"The only song that I wish I had written in the last few years was a Muse song -- 'Time is Running Out,'" she says. "I really like that song. I was like, 'Damn, I could've written that if I tried -- if the circumstances were right. That's not outside of my skill set.'"

Courtney Love is a good singer, and may have had some rough spots, but that doesn't mean everyone can judge her. My grandfather commited suicide while he was havig issues with my step grandmother, and we are still family. If you don't know her side of the story, or don't know the full details of her and Kurt's relationship, don't judge them. It's insensitive and you are only giving yourself a bad image.

Though, i will say, that she more than likley couldn't have come up with 'Time is Running Out'. Muse are a bit more...unique than Hole. ...and I like Muse better. Cheers!

as to people saying Courtney "lives off Kurts name"? from what I've seen of Courtney's career she has not ever tried to profit from kurts name she puts out her music under the name "Courtney Love" not Courtney Cobain, the only profits she makes off of Kurt are in royalties/liscensing and as the mother of his child and his wife at the time of his death she is more than entitled to that, if you remember when it came down to the fight between Courtney and the surviving members of Nirvana over the nirvana rights Kurts own MOTHER was on Courtneys side.

i am sick of this stupid chick giving female artists a bad rep. for someone who lives of the name of her late husband she trys to make her self sound amazing.
i am certian kurt would be proud of what should have b een his ex-wife so naybe she needs to learn how to work a cash register and forget what kurt cobain was to her

Courtney could NEVER have composed or even performed anything close the exquiset, intelligent quality that Muse does, I think she must still be on drugs! *smirk*
