Five years ago, among the many vocalists guitar wizard Carlos Santana recorded with was one Anna Mae Bullock, known worldwide as the nice 'n' rough Tina Turner. The duo collaborated on the song 'Game of Love,' which was scheduled to be released on Santana's 2002 'Shaman' album, the follow-up to his multiple-Grammy-winning multiplatinum 'Supernatural' from 1999. Someone at Santana's label, however, inexplicably didn't want one of the most successful female vocalists in popular music anywhere on the record. So instead, Michelle Branch was brought in to attempt to fill Turner's extra-long Hanes stockings. This musical injustice will be corrected when the Tina Turner version will finally be released on an upcoming greatest-hits collection, 'Ultimate Santana,' due out in October. As to which version Santana himself prefers, he gave a hint. "Queens come and go -- there's only one Tina Turner," he said. Comparing his two duet partners, Santana added, "There's the girl and there's the woman, and Michelle is unfolding into a woman ... but it takes time to go from a girl to a woman." He also pointed out, with no slight intended toward Branch, "No one can hit a note like Tina Turner."
