Following on the success of Paul McCartney's 'Memory Almost Full' album, released on Starbucks' Hear Music label, Joni Mitchell will issue her upcoming long-player as the second album on the ubiquitous coffee chain's new musical outlet. The esteemed Canadian singer-songwriter's impending record, to be called 'Shine,' will be Mitchell's first collection of new material since 1998's 'Taming the Tiger.'Mitchell has called the LP, currently scheduled for a late September release, "as serious a work as I've ever done." The 10 songs on 'Shine,' which promise to touch upon political, environmental and theological themes, will include a remake of one of her most famous songs, 'Big Yellow Taxi,' as well as the new 'If,' based on the Rudyard Kipling poem.

Joni's music, which is like a soundtrack of the lives of
the baby boomers. I know what all you young folks are probably gonna say, but when you examine the body of her
work throughout the years, not only was she a pioneer, but she never stopped growing musically, and there's not
a band around that has not been influenced by here work.
You go Joni! A musicians musician!
I think Joni Mitchell may have ruined my love life. When she came out with her "Blue" album I was interested in my best friend's younger sister. I was waiting for her to reach legal age before I was going to pursue her romantically. While I was waiting one of her own classmates began to see her and his name was Cary. My friend's sister loved the song "Carey" by Joni Mitchell and long story short I think that song may have influenced her to take this guy more seriously than she would have without the song's influence on her. How is a guy to compete with a fantasy? I do believe that music does shape our lives more than we may think. It's no accident that the military for years used marching songs or battle hymns to go into battle with. Music can even romanticize war and killing or dying for your cause. Iâm sure music has caused many to marry. Thanks a lot Joni.
