Hard Luck for Paul Stanley's Heart
- Posted on Jul 29th 2007 1:34AM by Melissa Olund
Friday night's Kiss soundcheck really got Paul Stanley's pulse racing. So fast, in fact, that the Starchild had to skip out on the show and head to the hospital.Stanley wrote on his website, "During sound check yesterday, my heart spontaneously jumped to 190 plus beats per minute where it stayed for over an hour necessitating paramedics to start an IV and give me a shot to momentarily stop my heart and get it into a normal pattern."
Kiss went on to rock 'n' roll all night without their lead singer, marking the first time in the band's 34-year history that they've performed as a trio.

Oh Paul, you're awesome. You are my one true Hero in life. I'm honoured to have finally been able to tell you in person that you are my idol. I will always love and adore you. You are the greatest RockStar on the face of the Earth. I'm dying to see Kiss in Concert again. But next time can you please make it out to your devoted fans in New Zealand.
Kiss Army New Zealand Division,
Michelle.
This was a shock to me, when I read this. Been a KISS fan since '75 Aging rockers never die, they're like fine wine improves with age. Doesn't matter how old, but as long as you still got it. Paul, get better buddy, & hope you get back on track. Just take it easy, & hang in there. SHOUT IT, SHOUT IT, SHOUT IT OUT LOUD!!!

Paul wanted them to go on without him to not disappoint the fans. Brave move by the band, and a truly unique experience for the audience! Oh, and by the way.... this is not the first time KISS appeared as a 3-piece. They had to perform on the TV show "Fridays" without Ace in '81.
August 01 2007 at 11:56 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhy are all these comments just concerning the concert going on without Paul?? HELLO!! The StarChild was taken to the hospital and had to have his heart stopped!! The only thing that matters to me is that Paul is okay and that NOTHING like this ever happens to him again!! I LOVE YOU PAUL!! Feel better soon!! KISS Army member since 1976!!

The response was overwhelmingly in favor of the show going on. It's not like this all happened the morning of the show. Everyone was already there. That has to be a tough spot to be in.

Hopefully Paul's better soon though, because even now the two of them put on a way better show than all the other aging rockers out there.
