PhotoSynthesis: The Rat Pack (Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra)

Oakland, Calif., 1988: That's the last time they were ever onstage together -- when they did their reunion tour in '88. It's probably the last time that Frank goosed Dean as well. Dean seemed pretty dazed, and Frank fired him the next day. My picture editor at PEOPLE, M.C. Marden, used to say, "Sometimes a picture of somebody's back is more interesting than a picture of their front." It's one of those happy accidents that you can never prepare for, but if you keep your eye on the ball and your finger on the trigger, you can hit it out of the park.

Also I just want to say-That Frank Sinatra was a true Love song singer & A special &wonderful man!I will always miss Frank Sinatra& his way of expressing his way of a lyric in his music!I always wanted to see his Shows, but never got to!He was also very kind & caring to Marilyn Monroe! She cared for him also, such as I read about in books, about her.I will miss both of them greatly!I also am a Singer/songwriter,so I know how Music is a special &dramatic part of people's lives!!!God Bless Frank and Marilyn Monroe...Signed Melinda in Vegas...

WE HOPE YOU LIKED ALL THE LIGHTENING AND THUNDER IN THE EAST LAST NIGHT. WE KEPT THE RAIN TO A MINIMUM - WE HATE RAIN.
Jim - Re: Classless entries # 11 & 12 that you've written here.
You should save your breath to blow up your inflatable date pal. MAy you show up in a kitchen with Chris Hansen.
No offense!
Heaven is restless today - off to the store for some more Jack Daniels. Doo be doo bee do paly.
My agent got Dean 6 nights in Puerto Rico. No days, just 6 nights. Dean asked "what do I do with myself during the day paly? My agent said "anything you want Dean, just stay out of Puerto Rico"! "We're all up here man" - Frank can't wait to punch this "story" writer in the mouth! Frank says he started out writing the Sears catolog descriptions and should return his last paycheck to whoever pays him for the crap he writes. Sammy's other eye almost popped out!
Dean's wants to "roast" this dumb ass writer!
Jerry Lewis's manager told my cabdrivers girlfriends hairdreser that Deano'S methane contributions smelled like jello. No. really.
August 04 2007 at 6:07 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyNow, I'm sure you all know how emotional Sinatra could get (i.e. when J.F.K. "turned down" the offer to stay at Sinatra's) and how many times he "fired" members of the Rat Pack. So why would someone's uneducated comment set you all off so quick? Sinatra was the leader, the alpha, Dean was his best friend, and you know how best friends can act together.....and Frank LOVED to argue. They are legands, drunk or sober, so let the memories fill your minds, the jokes, the pranks, the songs, and just CHILL the HECK out!
