M.I.A. Thanks Jack White for Vocal Healing at Lollapalooza

M.I.A. turned Lollapalooza's Bud Light stage into an electro-hop dance party with one command: turn the beat up. "I want it loud!" she said. It was quite the statement for the rapper/singer, who was battling vocal ailments. "I lost my voice in L.A. but I'll do my best because it's been a long f***ing wait to get here," she said. M.I.A. also thanked Jack White for Fed-Exing her a few undisclosed supplies to help with her voice. "I'll do what it takes," she laughed.

M.I.A. matched songs from her critically acclaimed debut album, 'Arular,' with new tracks from her Aug. 21-due effort, 'Kala.' Using high-energy beats and electronic sounds, she sang about violence and trouble that plagues her homeland of Sri Lanka. Driving home a point to a crowd that might otherwise take her songs to be party anthems -- sonically, anyway -- violent footage of warfare from t country flashed on the stage's jumbotron.
