From Plain White T's' 'Hey There Delilah' (2006)
Plain White T's frontman Tom Higginson wrote this ode to Columbia University steeplechase runner Delilah DiCrescenzo. He fell for Delilah and told her he'd written a tune about her, then quickly backed off when she asked to hear the song, which didn't exist yet. By the time he got around to penning the ditty, Delilah was long gone. She has since weighed in, saying, "Part of me wants to scream at the top of my lungs that it's about me. This songs dedicated to Rare Daisy. Just like this poor guy, We have the same situation but apparently, Daisy and I were friends and I hid my feelings about her but someone courted her and I was afraid that I might lose her so I confessed her that I love her and then that was the start where our "closeness" broke and she rather want it to be the two of us as "friends" only. That was 3 years ago and I still love her, I can't move on, still contacted her and showed her that I still love her. I even buy a guitar and tried my best to learn the chords of this song so that when she will graduate this year, I will have an acoustic session with her and I will sing this song to her. This song is for the hopeless and poor guy like me who loves someone unconditionaly. So I'll scream in to my lungs and say, Hey there Daisy, this one's for you.

Wow Delilah. You should be grateful. You shouldn't just "cower!" I mean come on! They wrote you a beautiful number 1 hit song!! I would be ecstatic if a band that famous and amazing wrote me a song! You should be screaming at the top of your lungs not cowering! You probably wouldn't be so famous without them, no offense. Take it like a sensible smart person and be happy. Tsk tsk...and to think you went to Columbia University.

It means she split. Moved on. Had no use for him. Probably never even said cya!

blablah, you are such a moron. Read past the first sentence. He wrote the song to Columbia steeplechase runner (i.e. STUDENT) Delilah DiCrescenzo. She is/was a Columbia University student who happens to run the steeplechase hurdles. The song is about her.

well deliah i think its really sweet that he wrote you a song.....so u should be hapy that he took the time and wrote down his feelings about you...so u need to apperciate that and not alot of girls get songs written about them and the man is telling u he loves you.. so just be gratful
