Women Behind the Songs: 'Hey There Delilah'
From Plain White T's' 'Hey There Delilah' (2006)
Plain White T's frontman Tom Higginson wrote this ode to Columbia University steeplechase runner Delilah DiCrescenzo. He fell for Delilah and told her he'd written a tune about her, then quickly backed off when she asked to hear the song, which didn't exist yet. By the time he got around to penning the ditty, Delilah was long gone. She has since weighed in, saying, "Part of me wants to scream at the top of my lungs that it's about me. well deliah i think its really sweet that he wrote you a song.....so u should be hapy that he took the time and wrote down his feelings about you...so u need to apperciate that and not alot of girls get songs written about them and the man is telling u he loves you.. so just be gratful

A guy that I rarely get to see actually dedicated this song to me. I totally love him and we're almost in the same situation. It's hard, but he writes great peoms that remind me of this song.

come to think of it i once wrote a song about a girl i once new. And she loved it, infact ive written songs about my love more then one occasion. SO go to whoever did just the same, and as for Delilah well dont be pout you'll find someone new.ITs kinda like a fairy tale about the lovve the cought your eye in high school then romanticly fell in love with you and you were with him for a short time and then you never saw him again. And your father comes in from a long days work from the military, and says sweetie how was your day and you mama says the same and you being the daughter or son says " find i guess ill go up to my room now. Well to me its like that. any way its kinda nice and you dont see that sorta thing now a days i miss that. and i wish somebody would return the favor to me for a change. well thanks for listaning

you should be happy he wrote you a song; when me & my boyfriend broke up, he called & played this song, i started crying. this song is so sad & everyone loves it. you should be happy; i would give anything if plain white t's wrote me a song, you should too:)

If the chemistry wasn't there for Delilah, then nothing could be done. It's not her fault. It was his heart that wrote it, and if he truly is a sweet guy like his song, well, then when the real thing happens....she will be a very lucky girl. Those of you who don't get it...you just don't get it...But i have to say thank god for men like these
