Satellite Party Bring Addiction, Porno to Lollapalooza

In 1991, Perry Farrell started Lollapalooza to coincide with what, at the time, was going to be his band's -- Jane's Addiction -- last tour. Thus what better way to get Satellite Party -- Farrell's new troupe -- started during their Day One performance than with a cover of Jane's 'Stop.' Clad in matching white and blue outfits, and with a new lineup that no longer features ex-Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, Satellite Party ripped into a set with almost as much energy -- if not the mystique -- as the original Jane's.Farrell led his party into their second Jane's song within the first 20 minutes -- 'Mountain Song' -- with number three following closely behind with 'Been Caught Stealing.' Porno for Pyros guitarist Peter Distefano joined SP for a rendition of their single, 'Wish Upon a Dog Star,' as well as PFP's signature tune, 'We'll Make Great Pets.'
"Those oldies feel good, man," Farrell said before closing the set with 'Jane Says.' Indeed.
