So, so true. Don't overthink this one, people.

    baha!
    who listens to this?!!!
you people say that some people dont like this just because its not on the top 40, but that has nothing to do with it! i pretty much only listen to stuff that's not in the top fourty and i think this sucks. they seriously could have come up with something better than this. Let people have their own opinions.

steve malkmus is a latter day bob mould with a sprinkling of frank black thrown in for good measure, pavement is the best thing to ever come out of stockton ca. Spin Magazine perenially places both of their first two albums high in the all time top 100. that being said, this is far from their best opening line.

You should know this song. Pavement is iconic. Similar to Sonic Youth. The "alternative" music played today has been very much influenced by one of these two bands. Some day we will discover there is more to music than what is playing on the radio.

Yeah, you're right. Opening lines should TOTALLY be judged by their presence on the Top 40. Have a listen to Pavement. You might be surprised how stale Top 40 bullshit sounds afterwards.

Yeah, don't diss Pavement. Is that why you left this comment, though? Why you went through the trouble of setting up the email password and everything? Just to say you didn't like it? I don't think people who criticize music should be allowed to enjoy such a great thing. I mean, it makes other people happy. Just let it be.

As Tony Montana would say, "You drive worse than my blind grandmother." PAVEMENT hits the road.

seriously, pavement is one of the greatest bands ever. no one's heard of them, (A) cause they're from the early 90's and (B) they were too bizarre to get any radio play. doesn't change the fact that their first two albums rank among the best. if you like to stray from the top 40, check these guys out

Part of the beauty of Pavement is the fact that douchebags automatically hate them. The first two albums are classic, but Brighten the Corners holds up really well, too, especially when compared to the major label "indie" of today.
