Best Opening Lyrics: No. 3

"Hey, ho, let's go!"
--The Ramones' 'Blitzkrieg Bop'

The four words that spark late-inning rallies at Yankee Stadium are also the words that started punk rock.

Dude, you are gonna piss off the Brits...the ramones were cool, but nothing could replace that 'severely repressed stiff upper lip comes totally unglued' quality that the Brits had when THEY invented punk.

I saw these dudes in central Ohio live four times, more than any other music act. Even now, after the deaths of so many members their music still kicks more ass than all the popular "punk-pop" bands that churn out what passes for punk these days. The Ramones are the original and best punk rock band ever, hands down. Viva Ramones forever!

"They're forming in a straight line, they're goin through a tight wind, the kids are losin their minds..."

Viva la Ramones!
FYI Thyme2dream, the Brits didn't invent punk, the Stooges did.

PFFFT. I worked for the Ramones in the late 70s.
This line should have been #1.It and THEY revolutionized music as a whole.

No doubt, The Ramones were by far the best of their era. WAYYYYY better than the brit bands. keeping in mind they would speak to our cultural system better anyway since we are from AMERICA and NOT Britain.

Damn, I can't believe someone had the sense to put the Ramones on this list. Wierd that I hadn't listened to then in a long while and I played them while I was working tonite. Then I come home and find this.

Well, as much as some of the picks sucked on this list, I'm glad to see one of the greatest rock bands of all time represented here and with a great/revolutionary opening line!

LOL brits didn't invent punk rock whatever the idiots say on this comment page.. it was quite an international phenomena that it was all pretty simoltaneous.. and fuck the sex pistols.. if they started punk, they also ended it by being the Blink182 of the 70s..

"2. Dude, you are gonna piss off the Brits...the ramones were cool, but nothing could replace that 'severely repressed stiff upper lip comes totally unglued' quality that the Brits had when THEY invented punk."

then how is it physically possible that the Pistols were fans of the Ramones when they started their band?

Wow what a bad list....And this #1??? In my belief that line takes no talent and it sounds lik something a 3rd grader could think of. There deffinitly should've been Many more rap songs on here and in fact it should of been majority Rap songs on here.. Now I kno many of the ignorant bastardz here have never heard Real HipHop/Rap but are extremly ignorant so they'll randomly withought any facts or true argument start bad mouthing HipHop/Rap but honestly most of the so called classic songs on here sound like 3rd graders wrote them,,, But i guess thats the best quality you can get from a Rock, Pop and country song. Anyway REAL Rap/HipHop is Way more important and relevant then any of this bullshit music and i've heard Loads en loads of Rock, Sadly heard plent of pop and I was terrified when i heard my first piece of disgusting country music. BUT BEFORE ANY OF YOU DISS HIPHOP OR RAP LISTEN TO TUPAC,DMX,NAS, SAIGON, KRS-ONE,BIG DADDY KANE, and RAKIM...I can go on for hours but I'll give you that small list and if you listen to at least one of there albums you may say you got a slight understanding of HipHop/Rap and then you may comment. And if you can listen to them and say Rap is talentless or meaningless then you my ignorant friend have NO understanding of meaning, musik, poetry, and have probably lived a rich upper class or upper middle class life your whole life.
Thank you and please only talk with me if your intelligent no idiots

"but honestly most of the so called classic songs on here sound like 3rd graders wrote them,,,"

That's the only part of that statement that made you sound like an ass.
I've noticed that this isn't something actually SERIOUS, I mean most of them are meant to be humourous.
Some artists have put the most bizarre lines for the opening, and that's what acored them a spot. Others have either really meaningful lines that got them on here, or a line that changed history.

In this case, despite those that think a 3rd grader could write it [[and yes, this may be so]], the song DID start off a range of punk-inspired music. Also, as mentioned, you can't go to any sports rally and not hear this song.

The Ramones really did earn their fame with this one. Maybe not my favorite song by them, I definitely like "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker", but a great and widely known song nonetheless.
