20 Bitter Band Breakups: Boston
- Posted by Spinner

By 1979, Boston mastermind Tom Scholz's perfectionism led impatient mates to record under the name of guitarist Barry Goudreau. CBS marketed the project under the name Almost Boston; the inevitable lawsuits followed. The recent suicide of Boston singer Brad Delp (left) is attributed in part to his disappointment over the band's problems.

Not quite correct... you're right that the band members continued sans tom scholz, but the band was not called almost boston, it was called orion and the name of the album was called "the hunter." when boston resumed withour barry, fran, and sib, barry continued as a solo artist. delp would write songs for barry. between boston's "third stage" and "walk on" releases, delp and goudreau a band called rtz (retuen to zero). Boston is back on tour in 2008 with stryper's michael sweet as it's lead singer (afer starship's mickey thomas declined).

Beautiful melodic passages featuring the ringing of an acoustic guitar energize to blistering guitar leads, screaming guitar duos, power chords, rock-Bach keyboards, and hair raising vocals fronted by Brad Delp's amazing vocal range. This disk features six songs in heavy radio rotation more than 30 years after its original release date: More than a feeling, Peace of Mind, Foreplay - Long Time, Rock & Roll Band, Smoking, and Hitch a Ride. It is worthwhile to listen to the band's early demos as they rock harder than the official release - especially Something About You. The Demo of this song is far more exciting than the official release and deserves to be let out of the archives. Fyi, an internet search should point you to the classic demo tape. On a final note, Bless you Brad Delp - I hope you have found peace.

REAL KICK-ASS ROCK N' ROLL.
May you eternally Rest In Peace, Brad Delp. Your space ship album was my first album in Junior High and my most treasured. Your song "More than a feeling" was just playing on a classics radio station and it still brings chills and awe like it did in the old days. Your voice is phenominal and will always be part of wonderful memories. I still can't believe you're gone. I'm so very sad.
