Things were never quite the same for Husker Du after the band's manager committed suicide in 1987 -- an act many believe was brought on by the pressure of keeping the difficult, drug-addled hardcore band in line. Heroin, amphetamine and alcohol abuse continued to drive songwriters Bob Mould and Grant Hart further apart until the group collapsed in 1988.
