20 Bitter Band Breakups: Pixies

In the early '90s, the more popular the Pixies became, the greater the tensions between the band members. After years of bad blood and often public confrontations (frontman Frank Black once threw a guitar at bassist Kim Deal during a concert in Germany), Black announced that the band was finished during a 1993 BBC interview -- news that was broken to the rest of the band via fax days later.

I can't believe Supertramp and Styx was left out, these two band easily outsold just about everyone except maybe the Eagles and Beatles. There's even a book about Styx

Gotta ask why leave out The Smiths, Cream, Culture Club, Dennis DeYoung and Styx, Chicago, Van Halen, Three Dog Night, A Taste of Honey too...those groups too have nasty, nasty, NASTY break-ups and not on this list. Should have expanded it to top 50...Especially during the 90's on when it seemed NOBODY got along...Someone say..New Edition/Bel Biv Devoe, Destiny's Child...et cetera...

I'm really surprised that The Police isn't on this list. Those guys HATED each other and by the time they broke up (mainly because they were jealous of Sting) they wanted nothing to do with one another. And took almost 25 years to even be on the same stage with one another!

I agree about The Misfits, but how could they leave out Badlands? Things got so bad that Jake E Lee and Ray Gillen were having knock down drag out fights. Ray was fired at one point but since they were booked to do a tour of England, he was brought back for the tour. Funny story I heard was Jake had talked trash about Ray and a fan threw the interview on stage and Ray read it to the crowd in hopes it would start another fist fight. But, other then that they ignored each other on stage for the rest of the tour. Once the tour was over, the band was no more.
