Frontman Billy Corgan (left) announced the band's 2000 breakup on the radio. They signed off with a 4-hour concert in their Chicago hometown, without original bassist D'arcy Wretzky, who left in 1999. Corgan's bitterness reared its head after the disappointing debut of his new band Zwan. On his blog, Corgan called Wretzky a "mean-spirited drug addict" and blamed guitarist James Iha for the breakup. The current "reunion" features only one other original member -- drummer Jimmy Chamberlin -- whom Corgan once fired in 1996.

1. I used to look up to Billy Corgan, but like Prince, he's gone wacko, what with the "purity" of the music and all. He claims everyone else sells out. I give a lot more credit to Pearl Jam for trying to tour without using ticketmaster. That says a whole lot more. I'm sure James and D'arcy are better off without that depressive snob.
