'Your Kisses Are Wasted on Me,' The Pipettes
From 2007's 'Your Kisses Are Wasted on Me' EP
There are some people who just don't get it. It's over. We're through. We are done. We've all been there (I know I have) and I don't think there is any other song that addresses this issue in such an upbeat and fun way. I thought British girl group the Pipettes were fun before I saw them live in New York City, but after a crazy night of hipster dancing, I couldn't get enough.
The Pipettes -- and their male group accompaniment known as the Cassettes -- formed in 2003, thanks to performer Monster Bobby, who was atttempting to bring back the Phil Spector sound with a modern twist. RiotBecki, Gwenno and Rosay are the three ladies Bobby chose to do just that. Normally, I'm not a fan of "manufactured sound" but this I make an exception for. I realized that the hipster goes just fine with doo-wop, and I love it.
So for all the ladies (and fellas) who can't seem to get rid of that not-so-special someone, have them try this kiss-off on for size. They "might cry for some time," but I'll be dancing!
