Linda Thompson Sings for Doherty, Prettyman for Lohan

Even though none of Elton John's 36 remakes of 'Candle in the Wind' ever struck our fancy, we can't deny the appeal of a musical homage of a dead -- or on-the-brink -- pop icon. As such, we understand why legendary singer-songwriter Linda Thompson would turn her attention to the saga of Pete Doherty in a song titled 'Babyshambles' -- after the combo currently fronted by the seldom-vertical rocker, who the extremely benevolent Thompson has called "quite talented" and "very touching." Surfer-turned-folkie Tristan Prettyman -- dubbed "the female Jack Johnson" by folks we'd classify as extremely mean-spirited -- has taken a more conventional approach, poking and taunting Tabloid America's favorite starlet in a new ditty entitled 'Get It Together, Lindsay.' The tune, accessible on Prettyman's MySpace page, suggests she "drink a coke" instead of snorting one and implies -- entirely reasonably, if you ask us -- that Wilmer Valderrama may, in fact be the root of all evil in the universe. Where that leaves Topher Grace, we're unsure.
